Miner killed in home invasion

A 38-year-old miner was gunned down by bandits at his home on Wednesday night, moments after they threatened to slit his 12-year-old daughter’s throat. Reports are that Gavin McNeil of Lot 48 Middle Street, Mc Doom, Greater Georgetown was shot four times to his neck and chest by the perpetrators.

Guyana Times International was told that the man was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
McNeil’s wife, Melissa, who was overcome with grief at the hospital, told the media that the incident took place around 19: 00h. She explained that the bandits had grabbed their daughter while she was outside the house and held her at gunpoint.
They also chopped her finger in the process of escaping with all the money her family had in their possession.
McNeil’s younger brother Romain said he would forever remember his murdered sibling as a great miner and a loving brother who would do anything for his family.
The deceased leaves to mourn his wife, two children, relatives, and friends.
